Rana Sana withdraws bail plea

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday disposed of a petition of PML-N lawmaker Rana Sanaullah Khan in a drug case after his counsel withdrew it to file the same at a later stage.

As a two-judge bench resumed hearing, advocate Azam Nazir Tarar appeared on behalf of Mr Khan and sought permission to withdraw the bail petition.

He said the trial court the other day passed an order to Punjab Safe City Authority to protect the videos of the petitioner’s vehicle’s travel from the place of his arrest to the office of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).

The counsel said he wanted to withdraw the bail petition for the time being and the same will be filed later.

A special court for Control of Narcotics Substance on Sept 20 dismissed bail petition Khan while released five co-suspects.

The ANF arrested the PML-N leader on July 1 near Ravi Toll Plaza on Motorway. The force claimed to have recovered 15-kg heroin from his vehicle. The FIR was lodged under section 9 (C) of Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997, which carries death penalty or life imprisonment or a jail-term that may extend to 14 years along with a fine upto Rs1 million.
