SEZs to boost business activities in Balochistan: CM
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani said on Monday that Special Economic Zones (SEZs) would help improve the province’s economy immensely.
Presiding over the sixth review meeting of the SEZs, the chief minister said the purpose of establishing SEZs was to promote investment in Balochistan.
He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would provide vast opportunities to improve the economy and the province would become self-dependent by tapping these opportunities.
“After some years of establishment of SEZs, the province will witness a positive impact on its economy and development,” he added.
The chief minister said the SEZs would create job and investment opportunities in the province.
“Renewable energy sources will be developed to meet energy needs of SEZs,” he said, adding that allocation of land for this purpose and other issues would be reviewed thoroughly.
Industries Secretary Ghulam Ali Baloch briefed the meeting on implementation of decisions taken during previous meetings, allocation of land in Hub and Gadani for SEZs, establishment of Balochistan Special Economic State Development Management Company, setting up of a facilitation centre in Karachi and appointment of its two members from Balochistan.
Provincial Minister Zamarak Khan Achakzai, Adviser on Education Mohammad Khan Lehri, Senior Member Board of Revenue Qamar Masood, Additional Chief Secretary Abdul Rehman Buzdar and other officials concerned also attended the meeting.
