Violence against Women Centre in Lodhran

LODHRAN: A Violence Against Women Centre has been inaugurated in Lodhran to curb the practice and provide protection to women.

Multan Regional Police Officer (RPO) Waseem Ahmed Khan inaugurated the centre at Saddar police station here along with District Police Officer (DPO) Malik Jameel Zafar and other officials.

After the inauguration, Khan said: “This centre will help women and stop violence in any form against them, including domestic, mental and physical torture, early marriage, rape and other challenges. To head this centre, we have appointed a woman for better help and communication between officers and applicants.”

He further said that the aim of this centre was to legally facilitate women on time, adding that no departmental negligence would be tolerated.

Moreover, as per the directions of the RPO, a police darbar (court) was organised at Javaid Islam Shaheed Police Lines where the RPO, DPO and all officers were present.

The DPO claimed that Multan region was at the top in progress made under the leadership of RPO Khan. He further said it was time to adopt changes according to modern times to better serve the public.

He said the aim of this darbar was to remove any gaps between the officials and staff in performing their duties in a better way.

The RPO said any torture cell, illegal arrest or any kind of harassment would not be tolerated and the person found flouting the standard operating procedures would be dismissed.
