Quetta-Karachi highway to be expanded: Balochistan CM

KHUZDAR: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan announced on Saturday that the Quetta-Karachi highway would be converted into a dual-carriageway road and that work on the project would begin soon.

He made the announcement during his visit to Kalat, where he met president of the Farmers Association, Shehzada Lal Jan Ahmedzai.

“The government of Balochistan has decided to expand the Quetta-Karachi highway to check the growing number of accidents that claim hundreds of precious lives there,” he said.

He assured the local farmers that their problems would be resolved as the government has been making earnest efforts for developing the agriculture sector.

“The infrastructure in Kalat will be developed on a priority basis and the issue of low gas pressure in Kalat, which is one of the coldest cities in Balochistan, will be addressed,” said the chief minister.

He also visited the residence of commissioner of Makran Division, late Capt Tariq Zehri, and condoled with his family members over his passing away.

The CM also visited Lehri town in Sibi district where he offered condolence over the death of veteran tribal leader and former senator Mir Hazoor Bakhsh Domki to his sons and other family members.

He paid tribute to the late tribal leader over the role he played in Balochistan and said the vacuum created after his death would never be filled.
