Three Pakistanis knocked out of World Snooker

KARACHI: After a dismal performance, three of four Pakistani cueists particpating in the ongoing IBSF World Snooker Championships made surprising exits in the last-64 knockout round in Turkish city of Antalya on Wednesday.

According to results made available here, Kavin Hanssens of Belgium thrashed Babar Masih 4-2 (66-34, 80-24, 87-11, 2-75, 59-65, 72-29) while Cheung Ka Wai of Hong Kong whipped Zulfiqar A. Qadir by an identical margin of 4-2 (25-79, 5-74, 92-46, 50-17, 69-5, 63-60).

Philippines’ Michael Mengorio sent Mubashir Raza packing 4-1 (84-34, 57-23, 59-63, 83-28, 105-0) The last Pakistani qualifier and former world champion Mohammad Asif, who was seeded second in the redraw, was up against Russian Ivan Kakovskii in his knockout fixture. At the time of filing this report at 8pm, Asif was 2-1 up.
