Boxing: KPT snatch national cadet title
KARACHI, Aug 8: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) accumulated 15 points to win the national cadet boxing championship at KPT Sports Complex on Monday. KPT, who grabbed three gold medals, two silver and equal number of bronze, were followed by Sindh who mustered 14 points with two golds, three silvers and two bronze. Army finished third with 13 points after they won three gold, a silver and two bronze.
KPT’s Aurangzaib outboxed Wapda’s Ilyas Kachchi 43-35 in the 48kg, Adnan of KPT got the better of Wapda’s Shah Fahad 22-7 in the 52kg, while in the 54kg category Arshad Hussain of KPT thrashed Faisal Shah 15-2.
Sindh got their first gold through Riaz Cheena, declared the boxer of the championship, who defeated Army’s Adeel Arshad on RSC/OS verdict in the 60kg. Allah Bukhsh won the second gold for Sindh when he overpowered Balochistan’s Mohammad Akbar 27-22 in the 70kg.
Sajid Khan of Army beat Shah Nawaz of Sindh on RSC decision in the 50kg, Adil Butt of Army was 63kg winner when he defeated Zahid Saleem of KPT 27-9, while Anwar Alam of Army crushed KPT’s Alam Zaib 42-28.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) made a surprise move when all of a sudden it “scratched” the senior ranking tournament on the final day. While the organizers were providing results since Aug 5 mentioning the name of the tournament as national cadet and senior ranking boxing tournament, they did not provide the results of the senior ranking tournament on Monday which was organized along with the cadet event.
Organizing secretary Mohammad Akram, also the secretary of Sindh Boxing Association was not available, although repeated attempts were made to contact him.

46kg: S.M. Hussain (Navy) bt Sikandar Khan (Sindh) 18-15. Abdul Waheed (KPT) and Imtiaz Hussain (Balochistan) (bronze).
48kg: Aurangzaib (KPT) bt Ilyas Kachchi (Wapda) 43-35. Mohammad Ismail (Balochistan) and Yasdan (Amry) (bronze).
50kg: Sajid Khan (Army) bt Shah Nawaz (Sindh) RSC/H. Sanaullah (KPT) and Asif Kachchi (Wapda) (bronze).
52kg: Adnan (KPT) bt Shah Fahad (Wapda) 22-7. Azmat Shah (Army) and Arshad Murad (Sindh) (bronze).
54kg: Arshad Hussain (KPT) bt Faisal Shah (Sindh) 15-7. Akbar Ali (KESC) and Faheem Khan (Punjab) (bronze).
57kg: Zakir (Balochistan) bt Ghazanfar Ali (Punjab) 27-6. Jahangir Khan (Sindh) and Akbar Hussain (Navy) (bronze).
60kg: Riaz Cheena (Sindh) bt Adeel Arshad (Army) RSC/OS. Hayatullah (Balochistan) and Hassan Arif (KESC) (Bronze).
63kg: Adil Butt (Army) bt Zahid Saleem (KPT) 27-9.
66kg: Anwar Alam (Army) bt Alam Zaib (KPT) 42-28.
