PCB set to present model constitution
LAHORE: After a delay of more than four months, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is finally ready to present the model constitution for the new set up based on provincial and city cricket associations, during its Board of Governors meeting here on Friday.
On Aug 19 this year, the PCB implemented the new constitution after getting approval from the federal government. Under the constitution, the major changes were brought in domestic cricket, ending the departmental cricket and also the regional one for which 16 regional cricket associations and their affiliated district bodies were abolished. This has resulted in making cricketers and ground staff jobless, throughout the country. Under the new model six provincial cricket associations for Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Northern, Central Punjab and Southern Punjab are to be formed, most probably on an ad hoc basis, for one year.
According to the agenda for the meeting in which chairman PCB Ehsan Mani will present his report, the chief executive Wasim Khan will brief the members about his report through a video link from Australia where is with the national cricket team.
The governing body will also give approval for the constitution of the Pakistan Deaf Cricket Association. The meeting will also be updated on PCB Strategic Plan, uplifting plan of Bugti Stadium in Quetta and forthcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which is being played in Pakistan after a long gap of over 10 years.
