Abbottabad roads in bad condition
ABBOTTABAD: The roads in Abbottabad city are in bad condition, causing frequent traffic jams to the inconvenience of the commuters and the pedestrians, residents complain.
The Karakoram Highway is particularly in miserable condition, especially from Supply to Abbottabad Public School.
Though Re1 billion was spent on the rehabilitation of the inner city roads under the beautification drive of Abbottabad, substandard material was used on some while others were left unattended.
The locals alleged that the roads which needed minor repairs were wholly re-carpeted, but as the material was of low quality, the roads developed big ditches in a short span of time.
The residents of thickly-populated Kunj Qadeem area said that they had raised hue and cry over non-repair of the road from Fawara Chowk to Band Khoo, but to no avail.
They accused the local MPA of spending Re1 billion without first devising a PC-I, and of committing irregularities in award of contracts. They said busy roads were left out, adding no drains were constructed along the roads, as a result of which, rainwater flowed onto the roads, damaging them extensively.
The residents demanded of the National Highway Authority to repair the main KKH without delay.
