SAF Games gold winning boxer Majeed Qambrani dies

KARACHI: Former International boxer and SAF Games gold medallist Abdul Majeed Qambrani died here in Karachi after protracted kidney ailment.

Late Majeed Qambrani won the gold medal in the 1989 edition of SAF Games and was also the national champion for many years.

Legendary boxer Mohammad Ali presented him with the SAF Games gold and it was a hug moment for the Pakistani boxer.

The funeral prayers of Majeed Qambrani were offered at the Rehmania Masjid, Lyari and after he was later buried at Mora Graveyard.

Olympian Mehrullah, Olympian Rasheed Qambrani, International boxer Abid Ali, Abu Talib, PBF Vice President Asghar Baloch and other sports personalities attended his funeral.

Pakistan Boxing Federation’s President Khalid Mahmood, Secretary General Col Nasir Aijaz Tung and other federation members expressed deep condolence at Majeed’s passing away and prayed for the departed soul. “Majeed Qambrani was a true sportsman and his services for boxing will be remembered for long,” said Khalid.
