Balochistan govt conducting own accountability, says Alyani

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that for improving his government’s performance and resolving problems the process of reshuffling the cabinet will continue.

Talking to newsmen after visiting the ailing Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo at the Civil Hospital on Sunday, he said: “As long as I am chief minister, I will continue to pay full attention to my work.”

Mr Alyani said his government was making efforts to come up to expectations of the people who had given mandate to it.

He said his government was doing self-accountability.

“It will be shameful if the performance of two or three hospitals of Quetta cannot be improved,” he said.

The chief minister said people who were responsible for wrongdoings in the health department would be identified and punished.

“Changes have been made in the health department as its performance has not been satisfactory during the past six months,” he said.

The chief minister said with the change of health secretary there would be improvement in the sector.

He said an investigation would be conducted to asc whether the former minister, secretary, director general were responsible for the present situation in the health department.

Mr Alyani, however, said that the department had improved in rural areas, while surgery had been started in small towns, but there was a lot of room for improvement.

“Cardiac and cancer hospitals will be built in the province. Unfortunately, in the past, we have only focused on construction of buildings but not their functioning,” he said.

“I myself will be looking after the health department and improvement will be seen in one and a half months,” he said.

Earlier, the chief minister inquired after the health of Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, who was admitted to civil hospital last night after he fell ill.

Doctors informed the chief minister that food poisoning had caused the sudden illness and now Mr Bizenjo’s condition was improving.

The chief minister expressed his best wishes for the early recovery of the speaker.

The Chief Minister took round of different parts of the hospital and reviewed the hygienic condition and security situation at the health facility.

He asked the medical superintendent and other authorities to take measures for improving cleanliness and pay attention to security of the hospital.

He said patients visiting hospital should be given best treatment facilities.

Provincial Minister Mir Arif Mohammad Hasani and others were also present on the occasion.
