Upgraded police website allows filing of e-complaints

LAHORE: Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) Shoaib Dastagir has launched an upgraded website of the department with new features to register e-complaints in a user-friendly manner.

Police Khidmat Marakaz, 8787 Complaint Centre, 15 Emergency Service, Rasta App and 89.8 FM radio are integrated with the new website. The new features will enable the citizens to register their e-complaints. This website will augment smart and modern policing. It has been redesigned in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).

Mr Dastagir said effective use of modern technology is imperative to rule of law and provision of timely information to citizens because modern policing initiatives cannot materialise otherwise.

He was addressing a ceremony to launch the new website at Central Police Office (CPO) on Wednesday. Additional Inspector General (Operations) Inam Ghani and PITB officers were also present on the occasion.

Mr Ghani briefed the IGP about the new features of the website that will have a special focus on promoting a soft image and public service delivery projects. It will also provide timely information and better service delivery.

He said citizens could report any incident for police action and also avail Khidmat Marakaz facilities through the website. Contact numbers of all regional police officer, city police officer, district police officers and other officers were also available on the new website.

The IGP said new projects with the help of latest technology had started to save valuable time and money of the citizens and promote fast-track policing like modern countries.
