Outlaw killed in Haripur ‘encounter’

HARIPUR: Police here claimed to have gunned down a proclaimed offender during an encounter in remote village of Beer union council.

SHO Khalidur Rehman of Beer police station told mediapersons that Nasir Khan, son of Mahroof Khan of Soha village, had been on the run after committing murder of a watchman namely Miskeen Shah in Haripur city on Dec 18, 2017.

He was also nominated in the FIR lodged with the city police station, Mansehra, for attacking and injuring constables Ehtisham Ali Shah and Tayyab Khan on Aug 18, 2014, when they were on patrol.

According to SHO Khalid, on Friday morning he along with a police party raided the house of Nasir Khan on an intelligence report and when they were attempting to enter his house the accused who was hiding along with two unknown persons opened fire at the policemen. However, they remained safe.

The SHO said that when the police returned fire Nasir Khan was killed on the spot while his two unknown accomplices escaped.

The police claimed to have recovered a pistol and AK47 rifle from the house of Nasir Khan and registered a case against him and his accomplices.
