Five of family injured in cylinder blast

LAHORE: Five members of a poor family were reportedly injured after a cylinder exploded at their home in the Qila Gujar Singh area on Tuesday. The injured people, including two children and a woman, were rushed to hospital by Rescue 1122.

Condition of Khursheed Bibi (40) was stated to be serious due to 40 percent burns she received after a part of her home caught fire following the blast. According to initial details, the incident occurred when the family was cooking food.

With the explosion, the kitchen and the adjoining room caught fire, leaving little time for the people to escape the fire. Some local residents called the police as well as Rescue 1122. A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 said the roof was made of wood, and it caved in following the blast and the fire. They recovered four members of the family, including children Zikraya and Saira, from the rubble and shifted them to hospital for treatment. He said the rescue staff handed over premises to the police for investigation after completing operation.
