Rana Sanaullah demands judicial probe into drug case

LAHORE: PML-N MNA Rana Sanaullah Khan on Wednesday demanded a judicial probe into drug case against him claiming that he had been falsely implicated in it at the behest of the government.

Mr Khan, also a former law minister, was talking to media on his visit to Lahore High Court Bar Association. He thanked the legal community for standing by him in the testing time he spent behind the bars.

He said the government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had nothing to give the country except politics of victimisation.

Khan questioned the competence of Prime Minister Imran Khan as, what he believed, he remained ignorant about his arrest by Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF). He said all including the allegedly recovered heroin and the witnesses belonged to the ANF.

Claims Opposition’s consensus on election in 2020

He claimed that director general of the ANF also knew that the drug case was a fabricated one. He also lashed out at State Minister Sheharyar Afridi for making false claims of having video evidence of the alleged heroin recovery.

The opposition leader called for a fact finding commission in his case.

He said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif would return to the country soon. He said the health of Mr Sharif, who was in London for treatment, was not well yet.

Mr Khan said the entire opposition had a consensus view that fair and free election should be held in 2020. He said the ‘selected’ government had no ability to run the country. He said street vendors as well as industrialists had been affected badly due to unbridled inflation.

About conviction of former military ruler retired Gen Pervez Musharraf in high treason case, he said the verdict of the special court must be implemented.

The Lahore High Court had on Dec 24 granted post-arrest bail to Mr Khan in 15-kg heroin recovery case.
