Pakistan players record wins at British Junior Squash
ISLAMABAD: A number of Pakistan players have shown good performances during the British Junior Squash Championship being held in Birmingham, according to the results received here on Friday.
Haris Qasim reached the third round of the boys’ Under-19 event after beating Taylor Carrick 11-6, 11-8, 8-11, 11-2 but compatriot Hamza Sharif failed to join him after suffering am 8-11, 5-11, 10-12 loss to England’s Max Forster. Hamza had earlier beaten Czech Lubos Walter 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 in the first round.
Noor Zaman went one better than Haris in the Under-17 event, outclassing Karim Farrag of the Czech Republic 11-7, 11-3, 13-11 to reach the fourth round. Asadullah Khan fell in the third round, losing to Ireland’s Denis Helivskily 11-7, 11-9, 11-4.
There are three Pakistani representatives in the fourth round of the Under-15 event after Mohammad Hamza Khan defeated England’s Thomas Greengrass 11-5, 11-2, 11-3, Anas Ali Shah beat Colombian Juan Jose 11-8, 11-8, 11-8 and Mohammad Ammad dispatched Tay Jun Qian of Malaysia 11-4, 12-10, 11-8.
Abdullah Nawaz, meanwhile, reached the third round of the Under-13 event. Abdullah overcame American Christian Capella 12-10, 13-11, 8-11, 12-10 in the first round and then beat Aqil Mirza of Malaysia 11-6, 11-7, 11-6.
