Four shelter homes made functional
GUJRAT: The district administration made functional on Monday four shelter homes.
They have been established in Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH), Gujrat Municipal Corporation, Kharian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and adjacent to Kharian Municipal Committee. Up to 51 people are being provided meal, bed, washroom, heater and other facilities in shelters.
A local philanthropist has also launched the construction of a shelter home in the compound of the ABSTH.
RAPE: The police arrested a 12-year-old student of a ceremony for raping a 10-year-old girl, also a student of the female branch of the seminary, in Kharian Sadar police precincts.
The police said the mother of a girl lodged a complaint with Kharian Sadar police that her daughter went to the other boys branch for cleanliness where the suspect raped her. The police collected samples for the medical examination. SOCIAL
SECURITY: Of the registered 1,153 registered workers, only 289 brick kiln workers family heads have been issued social security cards across the district.
Deputy Director (labour) Muhammad Usman told the district vigilance committee here on Monday that there were total 264 brick kilns in the district where 14,050 members of 1,153 families had been registered with government departments and it was the target to issue the social security cards to all family heads.
He said 347 family heads had also been issued national identity cards during the joint camps for the provision for services to the labour community at the brick kilns.
In camps, 158 children of kiln workers were also issued the Form B by Nadra whereas 3,682 workers had been given the health services. Such camps would be arranged for the remaining families and fines were imposed to 97 brick kiln owners for violations of the labour laws.
