Rs10bn allocated for development projects in Attock

TAXILA: Officials of the district government on Tuesday informed the district development committee (DDC) that this year Rs10 billion had been allocated for 143 development projects in Attock.

The DDC meeting was presided over by Punjab Minister for Revenue retired Col Mohammad Anwar and attended among others by MNA retired Maj Tahir Sadiq and MPA Jamshaid Altaf, Punjab Public Accounts Committee Chairman Punjab Syed Yawar Abbass Bokhari and deputy commissioner Ali Anan Qamar and local heads of the different departments.

While briefing the district development committee (DDC) about the development projects, Deputy Commissioner Ali Anan Qamar said Rs4.8 billion had been earmarked for 21 different road projects, Rs 922.280 million for 19 construction projects, Rs1,691.509 million for 23 public health schemes and Rs20.684 million for a local government scheme.

The DC further informed the meeting that a sum of Rs2,186.594 million had been allocated for construction of four small dams, Rs 283.965 million for provision of sports facilities in the district, Rs40 million for mines development while Rs130 million would be spend on execution of 70 different schemes regarding provisions of different municipal services in the district.

Addressing the participants of the DDC, Punjab Minister for Revenue retired Col Mohammad Anwar urged transparency in award of work, utilisation of quality material and timely completion of these projects.

Mr Khan urged the officials of execution agencies to ensure quality in various development schemes of the district. “Fast-track construction doesn’t mean low quality work, rather it means construction activities in coordinated and controlled way to complete a job much earlier than normal period,” he added.

The minister said the Punjab government was utilising maximum available resources for the development of Attock district.

He directed all the officers to stay in touch with public representatives and keep them updated regarding development projects.
