Landmines recovered from Bajaur college

KHAR: The police claimed on Tuesday to have recovered 26 anti-personnel mines planted by miscreants on the premises of the government college of technology in Inayat Kallay, thus foiling bid to carry out a terrorist act.

District police officer Pir Shahab Ali Shah told reporters here that soon after getting information about the presence of explosive devices in the institution from the college’s watchmen, personnel of police’s bomb disposal squad were immediately dispatched to the college.

He said the team recovered the devices planted at two different places on the grounds of the institution. He said the mines were later defused successfully.

However, he said the institution was closed for winter vocations.

DPO Shahab Shah said that a committee comprising officials of the institution and the police had been constituted to determine as to how the miscreants were able to sneak inside the college and plant explosives there.
