Rs17.5 billion approved for Chakdara-Chitral highway

TIMERGARA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Syed Mehboob Shah on Saturday announced that the government had approved Rs17.5 billion for construction of Chakdara-Chitral highway and federal minister Murad Saeed would soon inaugurate the project.

He was addressing a function after inaugurating the Kalpani-Talash bypass road along with CM’s special assistant MPA Shafiullah Khan at Bandagai Talash.

The function was also addressed by Mr Shafiullah and others.

The MNA said that all ongoing development projects in Talash would be completed in the tenure of this government. He said that he would soon inaugurate gas supply to Shamshi Khan, Nasafa Talash and other areas.

Mr Shafiullah said the bypass road project would be completed with a cost of Rs680 million of which the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had released Rs368 million. He said that Rs320 million would be distributed among the landowners from Monday next while the contractors would start work on the project immediately.

MNA says project to be inaugurated soon

The bypass road was approved by the previous government in 2015 and due to lack of funds the project was not completed while the owners reoccupied their land in 2018.

He said that the government had also approved construction of two degree colleges one each for boys and girls in Talash. He said he would inaugurate those projects in a few days.

JIRGA MEETING: Members of Dir Qaumi Jirga, a reconciliatory body of elders and local politicians, on Saturday said that property ownership dispute between the tribes of Utmankhel and Malakanan would be resolved by the jirga.

In this regard a meeting of the jirga was held here with its chairman Sahibzada Yaqub Khan in the chair. JI district chief Izazul Mulk, MPA Bahadar Khan, Timergara assistant commissioner Shah Jamil, ANP’s Mohammad Zeb and representatives of other parties spoke on the occasion.

They said that the jirga was trying to settle the 48 years old property ownership dispute between the Utmankhel of Shatai Darra and Malakanan of Khaima, which had claimed several lives so far.

The AC said the administration would extend full support to the jirga in this regard.
