SIUT inaugurates robotic surgery facility

KARACHI: The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) opened its robot facility along with three-dimensional laparoscopic unit on Saturday to provide state-of-the-art surgical facilities to its patients.

The first such facility in the public sector, the unit is dedicated to late Kassim Parekh, a renowned banker.

The three-dimension surgery facility will provide relief to patients with less pain, less loss of blood, less risk of infection, shorter hospital stay and, above all, quicker recovery time.

Speaking at the ceremony, chief guest Bashir Dawood, who donated Rs450 million for the unit’s construction, appreciated the dedication and professional excellence of SIUT doctors and paramedics.

He also pledged a donation of Rs1 billion to build a children and cardiac hospital for SIUT.

Earlier, SIUT director Prof Adib Rizvi welcomed guests and shared details of the institute’s activities.

“The institute has a well-structured surgical programme comprising experienced surgeons in the field of robotic surgery for urological disorders. The induction of new surgical facilities would greatly benefit patients,” he said.
