Fire erupts at Kohat weekly bazaar

KOHAT: A fire reduced to ashes a big pile of grass, locally known as Mazri used in making household items, at the weekly fair in Bilitang town here on Monday.

An eyewitness, Mohammad Sajid, said that a pile of mazri caught fire due to some unknown reasons, but the people could not extinguish it because the grass was dry and there was a wind blowing.

Later, fire brigade was called which tried to douse the flame, but it failed to save even a bundle of the grass.

The poor people, who collected the special type of grass from the mountains and then rolled it into ropes for use in knitting cots, have appealed to the government for monetary help.
