Rulers appeasing America, IMF, says Siraj

TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq said here on Thursday that rulers were busy in appeasing American administration and International Monitoring Fund (IMF) authorities and had no interest in the issues confronting the country.

Addressing the monthly congregation arranged by JI district chapter at Ahyaul Uloom Balambat, he said that amount of current fiscal deficit would cross the figure of Rs5 trillion by the end of the year.

Siraj said that the PTI government failed on all fronts. He said that JI planned to launch an agitation campaign against the government. He said that government ministers were levelling allegations of corruption against each other.

The JI chief said that growth rate had dropped to 2.7 from 5.8 while the interest rate in the country had been kept at 13.2 per cent. He said that record inflation and unemployment added four million more to the list of people living under poverty line in the country.

JI chief hints at launching movement against govt

Siraj said that nation supported the Kashmir cause but the rulers were making mere claims on Kashmir.

The event was attended by the JI workers from all parts of the district.

FOREST: The district administration at last took notice of the pest attack on pine forest in Tarnao and directed locals to avoid bird hunting in the area.

Deputy Commissioner Saadat Hassan directed the divisional forest officer and officials of agriculture department to visit the affected forest and find out solution to the problem.

Islam Khan, former tehsil naib nazim from the area, told Dawn that so far thousands of pine trees and other shrubs had been affected by the insects. He said that the attack started during summer due to drought like situation in the area.

DRIVE: Deputy Commissioner Saadat Hassan on Thursday directed all assistant commissioners and tehsil municipal officers to remove roadside illegal billboards, signboards, flags and banners on electricity poles to maintain beauty of the district.

A meeting in this regard was held in Balambat to discuss various issues relating to beautification and cleanliness of the area. The administration also asked the shopkeepers and local elders to keep their environment clean.

POLLS: The Al-Khidmat paramedical group on Thursday announced its panel for the upcoming annual elections of the paramedical association to be held on February 25 in the district.

The group nominated Mohammad Rahim as its candidate for slot of president, Humayun Khan as senior vice president, Zafran Khan as vice president, Hameed Khan as general secretary, Mohammad Zahid as additional general secretary, Yousaf Khan as joint secretary, Mehmood Khan as finance secretary, Muzafar Khan as office secretary and Mushtaq Ahmad as press secretary.
