Islamabad sector
APROPOS the letter ‘Islamabad sector’ (Feb 2). The writer has made a timely request to the government that unfinished housing projects all over the country may be completed first, and at the same time the government should also ensure housing for the poor in new housing schemes.
I am one such victim of a housing project that has remained unfinished for the last 35 years. I am now 75 years old and a retired government servant. In 1994, I was allotted a residential plot of land in sector E-12 of Islamabad. Twenty five years have lapsed and the Capital Development Authority is unable to hand over the possession of the land to me.
If possession is handed over, 4,500 other allottees like me will construct their housing units in sector E-12 with their own funds without public sector funding. Handing over possession will strengthen public confidence in public sector housing schemes hurt by undue delays in unfinished schemes.
