Four workers killed in Duki mine

QUETTA: A landslide in a coal mine left four workers, including three brothers, dead in the Duki area of Balochistan on Wednesday.

The bodies were retrieved from under the debris after five-hour hectic efforts. The mine was closed and an inquiry into the incident was ordered.

An official of the mines department said that the labourers were digging coal deep inside the mine when they got trapped due to landslide. “All the four workers had died before the rescue team could reach,” he said.

Levies officials also confirmed the death of four coal miners. They said that after receiving information about the incident, they along with mines department officials rushed to the site and started rescue operation.

“Labourers and rescue officials recovered all the four bodies after five hours hectic efforts from the affected mine,” said Assistant Mines Inspector Dost Mohammad. The deceased, including the three siblings, hailed from the Muslim Bagh area of Qilla Saifullah district. Their bodies were shifted to a local hospital and later handed over to their families.
