Five-day polio vaccination drive to begin on 17th
TAXILA: A total of 291,863 children below the age of five will be administered the polio vaccine during a five-day drive that will begin across the district on Feb 17.
District Health Officer Dr Asad Ismail told the media that 953 teams will go door-to-door vaccinating children in six tehsils.
He said staff deployed for the campaign have been issued special instructions and informed that negligence will not be tolerated.
There are 105 fixed centres and 31 transit points designated for this purpose, he said, and 79 union council supervisors and 174 area in-charges have been appointed to monitor the campaign in the Attock, Fatehjang, Pindigheb, Jand, Hassanabdal and Hazro tehsils.
Dr Ismail said that 815 mobile teams, 105 fixed points and two roaming teams of allied and tehsil headquarters hospitals are participating in the campaign.
Vaccination facilities will be available at the hospitals, as well as at basic health units, rural health centres, railway stations and bus stands.
He asked parents to cooperate with teams so that no child is left out of the campaign, which he said would focus on vaccinating children aged five and below in far-flung areas of the district.
