HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 will carry total prize money of $1 million, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

The winning team of the tournament will receive a cheque for $500,000 along with the trophy while the runner-up team will receive a cheque for $200,000.

A cash prize of $4,500 will also be given to the player of the match in all 34 matches and another $80,000 will be distributed among the player of the tournament, best batsman, best bowler and Spirit of Cricket awardee.

Cash prizes will also be given for other achievements during the tournament such as best catch by a player, best run-out and the most number of sixes.

The PSL 2020 will be the first one in five seasons to be played entirely in the country. The matches will be played in four cities of the country — nine in Karachi, eight in Rawalpindi, three in Multan while 14 matches will be played in Lahore.

The opening ceremony of the PSL will be held on February 20 at the National Stadium, Karachi. The first match of the season will be played between defending champions Quetta Gladiators and two-time winners Islamabad United on the same day.
