KOHAT: The police found the bodies of a young man and a girl near the house of the latter in the Doctor Banda village here on Tuesday.

The cantonment police said the man belonged to Buner. The bodies were shifted to the KDA Teaching Hospital where doctors declared them as victims of shooting.

A police team reached the scene and arrested a brother of the girl and his accomplice for the double murder.

The girl’s brother admitted to killing his sister for having illicit relationship with the man from Buner.

The police recovered the weapon used in the murder and registered a case. Later, they obtained physical remand of the suspects from a local court for further investigations.

Meanwhile, a man was killed and his nephew injured in firing by a rival over property dispute in Paya Jawaki area of Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision on Tuesday.

The police arrested the suspect along with the weapon.

The deceased was identified as Gul Mohammad and the injured Haq Nawaz. The police said the suspected attacker, Noor Alam, fired on the motorcycle the victims were riding.

The body was handed over to relatives.

The police later obtained physical remand of the suspect from court for further investigation.

OPEN KUTCHERY: The people of Sorgul complained about over-billing and excessive power loadshedding at an open kutchery held by deputy commissioner Abdur Rehman on Tuesday.

Heads of departments were present.

The people also complained about shortage of irrigation water, unpaved streets, roads and choked drains.

The deputy commissioner directed the agriculture department to ensure equal distribution of irrigation water, and provision of quality seed and pesticides to farmers.

He asked the education department to reopen the closed higher secondary school without delay, and select a site for construction of a primary school. He directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water to households.

TREE PLANTATION: A local cement company launched a tree plantation campaign at educational institutions on Tuesday.

The firm’s officials planted saplings on the premises of government technical institute.

They said 42,000 saplings would be planted across the district and stressed that planting saplings and taking care of them till they grew into trees was a must. They said trees ensured pleasant environment.

They said there was great need to create awareness among the public about the Prime Minister’s Clean and Green Pakistan campaign.
