Traffic warden booked

RAWALPINDI: A traffic warden was booked on the charges of illegally detaining a police official’s son, physically assaulting him and snatching his mobile phone.

Syed Manzar Mehdi complained to the police that his two brothers Ali Akbar and Syed Karar Kazmi were going to an academy on their motorcycle when they were stopped by a traffic warden near a checkpost at Westridge.

He said the traffic warden asked Mr Akbar to produce the registration book of the motorcycle which he did not have at that time. He told the warden that he could bring the registration book from his home which was not far away.

The complainant said the traffic warden did not allow him to go home and detained him at the check post.

He also accused him of slapping Mr Akber, using abusive language and snatching his mobile phone.

The Westridge police registered an FIR against the traffic warden and launched an investigation.
