PSL security, teams’ attitude was fantastic: Dean Jones

KARACHI: One of the most familiar foreign faces of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), ex-Aussie batsman Dean Jones has expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements during the recent edition of the league which was entirely held in Pakistan for the first time.

Talking to this correspondent, the head coach of PSL outfit Karachi Kings also urged the cricket authority in his country, Australia, to have a follow up on the security measures adopted during the recent edition of the PSL.

“The security was very well run and their attitudes to all the teams was fantastic, they were protecting us with a smile always. If security is maintained at the same level throughout then international teams won’t have any issues at all in touring Pakistan,” said Jones.

“Cricket Australia just needs to follow up on all the security arrangements, how it works and how it performed. They already had representatives in Pakistan and now it’s up to them (CA) what they do. I get secure and safe”, Jones, a former Australian cricketer said

Jones has been part of the Pakistan Super League since it’s inception in 2016 and this year he coached Karachi Kings which exhibited remarkable improvement under him while Jones’ previous franchise Islamabad United disappointingly finished at the bottom of the table. Jones said equal treatment has been his mantra of success.

“My magic has and always been our staff and finding out what makes each player tick. I try to spend the same amount of time as I do with emerging players as I do with with Babar, Imad, Jordon or Hales. Everyone is the same in my teams,” Jones said

He however declined to comment on the dismal performance of the two-time former PSL champions and his previous team, Islamabad United. “I don’t care what Islamabad do. Not my circus, not my monkeys”, Jones concluded.
