Musharraf to take decision on Narowal nazim

SIALKOT, Aug 28: Former federal minister Chaudhry Aziz Anwar, the father of NRB chairman Daniyal Aziz, has ruled out any possibility of alliance with his rival group headed by Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed in Shakargarh tehsil.

Speaking to journalists in Shakargarh (Narowal) on Sunday, he said the issue of nomination for Narowal district nazim’s slot had worsened and now President Gen Pervez Musharraf would take a final decision in this regard.

He expressed hope that he would be the obvious choice for the covetous position.

Answering a question, he said his group had won 11 union council nazim seats out of the 35 in Shakargarh tehsil and 11 nazims-elect also supported him for nomination.

Tension persisted in the tehsil where the ruling PML’s two leading rival groups are determined to win the high-command’s support for nazim’s slot.

Meanwhile, Shujaat Ahmad Khan, adviser to chief minister, has announced his support for newly-elected UC nazim Khwaja Waseem Butt from Narowal city for his nomination for Narowal tehsil slot.

RE-POLLING: Chaudhry Maqbool Ahmad Gujjar, the Member Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was defeated by his rival candidate during the re-polling in Adamkey Nagra union council in Pasrur.

PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Husain’s cousin Riaz Bhalli was also knocked out by Chaudhry Muhammad Rafi during the re-polling in Rasoolpur Bhalliyan UC.
