Vaiz, Abid lose in Vietnam

KARACHI, Sept 1: Two of the Pakistani pugilists Abid Ali and Mir Vaiz on Thursday lost their respective quarterfinals bouts in the ongoing Asian Boxing Championship in Vietnam.

According to the details available here, Abid Ali found himself unlucky when he lost to Ougonchulun Batkhuu of Mongolia in the third round by a hard punch in the lower abdomen at time when he was leading by 13 points.

Vaiz lost to Olympian Rustam Saidov of Uzbekistan in the round by RSC after receiving three standing counts in the first round.

The quarterfinals of remaining Pakistan’s boxers to be played on Friday are as follows:

51kg: Noman Karim Vs Somjit Jongjohar (THA)

57kg: Meharullah Vs Khounyhavisak (LAO)

64 kg: Asghar Ali Shah Vs Morteza Sepahvan (IRI)

75 Kg: Ejaz Mahmood Vs Marata Ryota (JPN)

91 Kg: Shaukat Ali Vs Ali Mazaheri (IRI).—PPI
