PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan visited Hayatabad Medical Complex to condole the death of Dr Mohammad Javed who passed away on Saturday morning after being affected by Covid-19 in the line of duty, said an official statement.

Mahmood Khan showed solidarity with the doctor community and offered fateha for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Talking to the HMC management, he paid rich tributes to the meritorious services late Dr Javed rendered for the coronavirus patients and said that he sacrificed his life to save the lives of others.

He said that the martyred doctor’s matchless sacrifice would be remembered for a long time to come.

The chief minister announced to nominate late Dr Javed for civil award and special package for his family in recognition of his services. Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz and senior officers were present on the occasion.

Showing solidarity with all the frontline health workers, including doctors, nurses andparamedics, the chief minister said he highly valued the services of these frontline workersand saluted their courage, adding the provincial government was working on a special package for these frontline workers.

In a separate message, the chief minister expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. He assured the bereaved family of all possible support by his government.

Meanwhile, Awami National Party provincial president Aimal Wali Khan expressed shock at the death of Dr Javed and termed it a big loss for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said that doctors, nurses and paramedics had put their lives at risk while providing treatment to coronavirus patients. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

Mr Wali said that his party had been demanding provision of personal protection equipment for the health workers.

He expressed concern over delay in supply of the equipment to health workers. He said that carelessness on the part of the government had resulted in increasing the number of corona patients.

Advisor to the chief minister on information and public relations, Ajmal Wazir, said on Saturday that the entire nation had commended the services of medical staff who had been offering medical assistance specifically during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to a statement, he said that the services of doctors, paramedics and nurses would always be remembered. He expressed these views while talking to special assistant to the prime minister on information and broadcasting, Firdous Ashiq Awan, on video link.

Mr Wazir said that lists of deserving mediapersons had been prepared to provide them with ration. He said steps were being taken for timely payment of salaries to media workers.

He added that the provincial government had already announced medical assistance for media workers who tested positive for the virus.

Earlier, Mr Wazir visited the Hayatabad Medical Complex to offer his condolences over the death of Prof Dr Javed.
