Four killed in ambulance, truck collision
SAHIWAL: Four persons, including a man, his daughter and her minor son were killed, while his two daughters got critically injured when an ambulance collided with a truck near 86/9-L village on Sahiwal bypass on Lahore-Multan Motorway on Monday.
Eyewitnesses said the accident happened when one of the front tyres of a private ambulance burst, causing it to collide with a vegetable-laden truck coming from the opposite direction on Lahore-Multan Motorway.
According to Rescue 1122 sources, the ambulance was carrying passengers from Chichwatni to Okara city.
As a result of the accident, ambulance driver Imran, 35, a resident of village 25/2-R, Okara, Yousaf (55), his daughter Sajida (40) and her four-year-old son, all residents of 165/9-L village of Chichawatni, died on the spot.
Two daughters of Yousaf – Khalida and Khadija – critically injured in the accident, were shifted by Rescue 1122 staff to the district headquarters hospital.
Motorway police have arrested the truck driver.
