Station commander raids markets

RAWALPINDI: Station Commander Brig Ijaz Qamar Kiani on Sunday raided markets in cantonment areas and fined shopkeepers Rs185,000 for overcharging and sealed eight shops that were opened despite the lockdown.

He was accompanied by Additional Cantonment Officer Rawalpindi Faisal Munir Watto and a representative of the district administration.

He raided Chour Bazar, Misrial Road and Range Road for checking prices as well as quality of food.

Eight shops were sealed and imposed fines worth Rs185,000 for violation of the provisions of Pakistan Cantonments Food Act.

The commander also visited Akseer Plaza and Muzaffar Plaza and took notice of encroachments by handcart pushers and hawkers in adjoining residential streets and ordered strict action against the offenders.
