Two Clifton superstores closed
KARACHI: The management of two superstores in Clifton closed their outlets after a few staff members tested positive for Covid-19.
The administration of district South had asked the superstore managements to shut their outlets to disinfect them and carry out tests of the rest of the employees. Deputy Commissioner-South Irshad Sodhar told Dawn that the local administration did not seal the Agha’s and Paradise superstores.
He clarified that the district administration as per the standard operating procedures had advised them to keep the stores closed till the shops were properly disinfected and all remaining staff tested negative.
36 more policemen test positive
As many as 36 more policemen have tested positive for Covid-19, taking the tally to 151 in Sindh, a police spokesperson said on Sunday.
“Total 151 police officers and jawans have been infected with the contagion so far mostly in Karachi,” added the spokesperson.
During the last two days, 36 new cases had emerged. Two policemen infected with the virus have died so far.
Around 119 infected policemen were under treatment and 29 others discharged from hospital after proper treatment, he added.
The condition of one sub-inspector was stated to be critical.
The policemen infected with the contagion were being looked after properly and decisions about their well-being were being taken on a daily basis.
