Four ‘human traffickers’ held in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA, Sept 6: A Federal Investigation Agency team on Tuesday claimed to have busted a four-member human smugglers’ gang in a raid and recovered passports, identity cards and other documents.

It was stated the accused had received Rs500,000 to Rs600,000 each from several people to send them to different European countries and disappeared after collecting their passports, ID cards and other documents.

On receiving complaints, the team conducted raids in Mandi Bahauddin, Dinga (Gujrat) and Adil Garh (Wazirabad) and arrested the gang members.

Those arrested were Sufi Mushtaq, Arshad Mahmood, Muhammad Arshad and Abdul Aziz. It was stated that wife of an accused was also involved in this scam but she escaped arrest. A case has been registered against the accused.

CASE REGISTERED: A case was registered against five prayer leaders by Peoples Colony police for violating the ban on loudspeaker use here on Tuesday.

Reports said despite a district administration ban on loudspeaker use, Maulana Muhammad Azam, Maulana Manzoor Ahmad, Maulana Muhammad Akram Zahid, Maulana Muhammad Hanif and Qari Asmat Ullah delivered ‘provocative speeches’ against the government. However, police could not arrest them.
