No Youm-i-Ali procession, Attock committee decides
TAXILA: The Attock district peace committee on Monday finalised arrangements for three upcoming religious events, Youm-i-Ali, Jummatul Wida and Eidul Fitr.
A meeting led by Punjab Minister for Revenue retired Col Malik Mohammad Anwar Khan and attended by MPA Malik Jamshed Altaf, Deputy Commissioner Ali Anan Qamar, among others, decided that there would be no Youm-i-Ali processions due to the lockdown imposed to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
Eidul Fitr prayer congregations have been permitted in mosques, Eidgahs and open spaces under the standard operating procedures devised by the government for places of worship.
14 arrested for violating kite flying ban
Taking action against kite flyers, in various parts of Wah, police booked 14 persons after a minor child was critically injured by metal string in Ahmednagar.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Taxila Circle DSP Tahir Kazmi said after the incident, Wah Saddar Police launched a massive crackdown against violators of the kite flying ban, in residential areas, located in the jurisdiction of Wah Saddar station including Nawababad, Dolian, Dhoke Awan, Losar Sharfoo, New city, Chachi Mohallah and Asifabad.
As many as 14 violators of the ban were arrested and cases were registered against them, he said, adding Wah Cantonment Police and Taxila Police will launch a similar drive to save masses from this deadly game that was putting people’s lives in danger.
