Minor girl dies in Swabi after consuming poisonous pills

SWABI: One of the two small girls, who had mistakenly consumed poisonous pills, has died, while the condition of her younger sibling is improving, Zaida police said here on Saturday.

They said the incident had occurred in Mohallah Changar of Zaida village, where Sohana Faiz, 8, and her six-year-old sister Aman Faiz had eaten poisonous pills by mistake.

Faizul Amin, brother of the girls, told police that he was informed by his family that his sisters had devoured pills used in wheat grains for killing insects.

He rushed home but the neighbours had already taken them to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex in Shahmansoor, but due to their serious condition they were referred to a hospital in Mardan, where Aman was pronounced dead.

He told police that the pills were brought by their father to place them in wheat grain.

When contacted, district police officer Imran Shahid told Dawn that the autopsy report of Aman would be received soon. “In light of the medical report we will investigate the incident,” he said.
