Journalist, his three children in Khanewal test positive for Covid-19

LODHRAN: A senior journalist and his three children tested positive for coronavirus in Khanewal on Sunday.

According to the district administration spokesman, the journalist’s wife has tested negative. A health department team isolated the infected people at their home.

Before isolation, Assistant Commissioner Babar Suleman and the health team supervised the residence to check if it was fit for home isolation of the patients.

The children were 13, 10 and eight years old and were reportedly in stable condition.

SIALKOT: The total number of confirmed coronavirus patients has increased to 515 with 62 fresh cases reported in the district on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Nasir Mehmood Bashir said tests of 62 quarantined people in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils turned out positive, taking the toll of infected people in the district to 515.

He said these patients were being treated at Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital and the field hospital.

BAHAWALPUR: A suspected carrier of coronavirus died at Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) on Sunday.

According to BVH doctors, Salamat, 40, of Dunyapur was admitted to the BVH isolation ward on Saturday in a serious condition. He was put on a ventilator, but he died on Sunday.

Covid-19 focal person Dr Zakir Hussain told Dawn that the deceased was a chronic patient of diabetes and asthma. He was brought to the BVH in a serious condition where he was being treated, but he died. His samples had been sent to a laboratory for testing and the result was still awaited. He hoped to receive the result by Monday (today).

Until the result was received, the man’s body was shifted to the morgue of Quaid-i-Azam Medical College. If his tests were declared positive, his burial would be performed under the government SOPs, otherwise his body would be handed over to his family.
