More cases reported in Chakwal

CHAKWAL: As many as 29 people tested positive for Covid-19, out of the 207, who were quarantined at Cadet College Choa Saidan Shah in Chakwal after returning from abroad.

Talking to Dawn, Deputy Commissioner Chakwal retired Capt Abdul Sattar Esani said: “Besides these 29 confirmed cases, the tally of domestic cases in the district has reached 25. A75-year-old man, from Tehsil Kallar Kahar, who died after suffering from a heart problem, along with Covid-19 is the only fatality in the district. All 29 patients from the quarantine centre, do not belong to Chakwal.”

Thirteen patients were admitted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, while 12 were quarantined in their homes, he said, adding 10 patients have recovered in the district so far. “Among the 13 patients admitted at DHQ Hospital, nine are asymptomatic and four have symptoms. No patient isin critical situation,” Mr Esani said.

District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Saadat Ali Khan told Dawn that 207 people were brought to the quarantine centre from Qatar. “All 29 patients who tested positive are asymptomatic”, he said.

Among the 36 patients reported so far, 20 belong to Tehsil Chakwal, six are from Tehsil Kallar Kahar, five from Tehsil Talagang, two from Tehsil Choa-Saidan Shah, one is a member of the Tablighi Jamaat from Mansehra, one is a prisoner from Charsada and one other belongs to Tehsil Sohawa of Jhelum District. There are 25 male patients, while 11 female patients have been reported so far in the district. Among the 10 recovered are five men and five women.

Meanwhile, 10 people who were quarantined in Tatral Village, after coming into contact with a confirmed patient, were tested negative twice. “We received their report on Thursday,” District Focal person for Covid-19 Dr Khalid Hasssan told Dawn.
