Customs authorities seize huge quantity of smuggled goods in Karachi
KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs authorities recovered a huge quantity of smuggled goods in separate actions, said the agency’s spokesman on Friday.
He said that the Model Customs Collectorate (Preventive) raided a godown in SITE area after receiving a tip-off and recovered smuggled curtain cloth worth Rs23.982 million.
In another action, the Customs personnel conducted raid on a godown at City Railway Station over credible information and seized smuggled items transported from Lahore to Karachi through cargo train the other day. The items were marked “Made in India” and “Via Karachi in transit to Afghanistan”, he said.
The Customs authorities recovered hair oil (Vatika, Parachute, Himalaya, Dabur Amla, Emami) made in India worth Rs3,912,480; 36 cartons of Salaboon Hair Spray weighing 558kg of total value Rs446,400, four cartons of Massager (thrive) worth Rs493,440, 10 cartons of Smart collection (body spray) worth Rs422,400, 71 cartons of Dabur Red Toothpaste (India) worth Rs339,690, 27 cartons of toothbrush of foreign origin worth Rs607,308, 14 cartons of Nutella G750 worth Rs156,800, 180 tyres of assorted brands and sizes worth Rs11,26400 and 411 wall clocks worth Rs205,500 (Made in China).
