Badminton: Wajid sole survivor
HYDERABAD (India), Sept 8: Wajid Ali was Pakistan’s sole survivor as four others crashed out in the Asian badminton championship at the end of first day’s proceedings on Wednesday.
Wajid had an easy outing beating Brunei’s Asad Ebrahim in straight games 15-0, 15-1. But his fellow countrymen Ahmad Waqas and Zeeshan Omer were outclassed by Japan’s Sato Shoji 15-1, 15-4 and Malaysia’s Yeoh Kay Bin 15-6, 15-3.
The two other Pakistani Ahsan Qamar and Sameer Hussain failed to turn up and their opponents received walk overs.
