Pattinson excited to play Batman
Robert Pattinson, who is playing the title role in the upcoming movie, Batman by Matt Reeves, revealed that he’s developed his own interpretation of the superhero.
The role was previously played by Michael Keaton, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and other actors.
Pattinson said he’s embraced the fact that Batman is a “legacy part” with a passionate and opinionated fan base.
“I kind of like the fact that not only are there very, very, very well-done versions of the character which seem pretty definitive, but I was thinking that there are multiple definitive playings of the character,” the actor said. “You can almost feel that pushback of anticipation, and so it kind of energises you a little bit,” the star said.
The movie was initially slated for release in June 2021 but was pushed back to October 2021 in April due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Animated Sesame Street spin-off
Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organisation behind Sesame Street, and Guru Studio, a leader in children’s entertainment, are teaming up on the beloved property’s animated spin-off, Mecha Builders (working title). The series features favourite Sesame Street characters as heroes in a robot-animation style.
“With Guru Studio’s masterful animated storytelling, we’re going beyond the Sesame Street neighbourhood with a new take on our iconic brand,” said Kay Wilson Stallings, Head of Development and Production at Sesame Workshop.
Production for Mecha Builders begins this month.
Popeye movie back in the works
King Features, who hold the rights to Popeye, have brought back Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars creator Genndy Tartakovsky to work on a new animated Popeye movie, five years after he abandoned his first attempt to develop a big budget project for the character over at Sony Pictures Animation.
King Features is likely to give Tartakovsky more creative freedom with Popeye, and they are clearly still interested in what potential success the iconic spinach-eating sailor could have if he connects with a new generation. The company has already released some new Popeye instalments on YouTube in 2018 such as Popeye’s Island Adventures for the new generation to have peek at the classic cartoons like this one.
