People throng springs in Kohat to beat the heat
KOHAT: Kohat is truly called the city of cold springs which the people throng on important occasions and weekends for picnic and to beat the heat.
The city’s springs were used only for bathing while the Chilli Bagh, Bona Baba, Juzara and Pir Sahib Bagh were also used for picnic parties by youngsters and families.
The flow of water in city’s springs has slowed down over the years, but is enough to fill its three pools.
The people enjoy bathing in the Bona Baba, Chilli Bagh and city’s springs, which have been recently turned into swimming pools. The Bona Baba’s has been converted into two pools with a shed, shower cabins and a balcony.
A women’s swimming pool has also been added to the city’s springs by raising walls around one half. Meanwhile, people have been violating the ban imposed on bathing in springs, streams and dams without any check.
PROTEST: Family members of the young man, who was killed for his alleged involvement in the murder of an SHO and a constable, held a protest and criticised police for homicide in custody, demanding inquiry into the incident.
They gathered in front of the house of CM’s adviser MPA Ziaullah Bangash and chanted slogans against him and the police.
Mother of the deceased Yousuf, who was allegedly killed in an encounter after the murder of head constable Amjidullah in Laal Mela, said that police came to their house on May 27, 2020, tortured the women, including her daughters, and took away her two sons. She claimed that one was kept at a secret place while Yousuf was killed. She said that her son had nothing to do with the policeman’s murder.
FINED: The administration fined as many as 25 shopkeepers, bakers, hoteliers and fruit and vegetable sellers for overcharging and poor hygiene and sent one butcher to jail.
The action was taken by additional assistant commissioner Murad Ali during inspection of hotels, bakeries and general stores in Gumbat bazaar.
