Couple involved in maid’s murder case taken to Lahore
RAWALPINDI: The couple, arrested by police in the murder case of an eight-year-old domestic worker, was taken to Lahore on Tuesday after a judicial magistrate remanded them in three-day police custody for DNA testing.
They were produced before the court of civil judge Mohammad Hanif on completion of their physical remand and the police investigating officer requested the court to grant three-day transit remand as they wanted to take the couple to Lahore for the DNA testing.
Police said it had been decided to conduct a polygraph test, forensic analysis of mobile phones and voice testing of the suspects during remand custody.
Police said the DNA, voice sample, polygraph tests and mobile phone analysis would help police get solid evidence in the case.
Asad Bukhari, legal adviser to the parents of the maid, told Dawn that the couple will be driven to Lahore for the DNA test as the chemical examiner’s laboratory was located in Lahore.
He said the police had also asked the father and grandfather of the girl to come to Lahore to see on their own that police were fulfilling all legal requirements needed to strengthen their challan.
The grandfather of the girl has also made and appeal to the prime minister, chief justice and the inspector general of police for justice as the girl’s parents can’t afford lawyer’s fee and other expenditures.
