Electricity tower targeted in blast

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 11: Three of the four pillars of a high-tension power supply line tower near Sakhi Sarwar on Dera-Quetta Road were destroyed by a powerful bomb on Sunday morning while five people were injured in a blast on the Rajanpur-Kashmor border. There was, however, no suspension of power supply as the tower stood intact on the fourth pillar. The transmission line feeds Balochistan tribal areas along the Punjab border.

Local Wapda officials said saboteurs had tried to destroy the tower number 10 of 132 KV transmission line. It was the eighth sabotage activity in the district during the last five months and second attempt at a power installation.

RAJANPUR: Five people suffered injuries when a time-bomb fixed on a bicycle exploded in front of a service station on Dera Morr in Kashmore.

Barely five minutes before the explosion, an army vehicle had passed through the spot which might have been the target.

Imtiaz Ahmed, Gohar, Farman, Usman and an unidentified man suffered serious injuries. They were rushed to the DHQ Hospital, Kashmore, where their condition was said to be critical.

Army personnel arrested around two dozen suspects in raids in different parts of Kashmore.
