SUKKUR: Dr Asim Hussain, a senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and a close aide to its co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, visited former leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) here on Saturday.

Political circles here attached great importance to his unscheduled meeting with Mr Shah, who has been in police custody and under treatment of cardiac disease at the hospital. Mr Shah was arrested some nine months ago in a reference filed against him, some of his family members and a few associates by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

It was stated that Dr Asim visited him to inquire about his health and discussed the new federal budget with him, besides reviewing the situation arising out of the Covid-19 outbreak. In his meeting with Sukkur NICVD governing body, Dr Asim discussed his plan to build a major hospital in Sukkur, party sources said. They said he left for Islamabad soon after the visit.
