Chitral students seek upgradation of Internet service
CHITRAL: Hundreds of students from Garam Chashma valley enrolled in different colleges and universities of the country took out a protest rally against poor Internet service here on Tuesday.
The protest has been continuing for the last two weeks.
The students said that after closure of their educational institutions in March last they returned to their villages and now online classes had been started, but they were unable to attend them due to lack of Internet facility.
They said that the 2G facility of Internet available in the valley needed to be upgraded to 3G, as without this attending online classes was not possible.
They said that they would lose precious academic year if they failed to attend the online classes of their respective universities and colleges.
CANNABIS DESTROYED: Chitral police here on Tuesday destroyed cannabis crop cultivated on the premises of a hydropower station in Golen valley and arrested one of the employees reportedly involved in the activity.
Koghuzi police SHO Shamsher Elahi told this scribe that the cannabis was found cultivated in a corner of the compound of the power station maintained by an NGO. He said the crop was covered by vegetable and flower plants from the outer side.
He said that a small quantity of hashish was also recovered from the possession of a technician of the power station.
