Karnal Sher Khan’s martyrdom marked
SWABI: The 21st anniversary of martyrdom of Captain Karnal Sher Khan was observed here on Tuesday with a strong resolve to foil evil designs of the enemy who was bent on harming Pakistan since its inception.
Sikandar Sher, Karnal Sher’s brother, told this correspondent that a contingent of the armed forces led by Brig Aamir Rashid presented guard of honour and an army officer placed a floral wreath at Karnal Sher Khan’s mausoleum, which is situated in Karnal Sher Khan Kallay here.
Also in the day, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in a message paid glowing tributes to Captain Karnal Sher Khan and Havaldar Lalak Jan, the two heroes of Kargil.
Quoting the COAS the Inter-Services Public Relations said: “There is nothing more honourable than laying one’s life for defence of the motherland. Nation is proud of its gallant sons for valour and unwavering allegiance to defend the country, regardless of the cost.”
Born at Faujoonabad of the district on January 1, 1970, Karnal Sher embraced Shahadat on July 5, 1999. He was a captain in the 27th Sindh Regiment and posted to 12 Northern Light Infantry (NLI) Regiment during the Kargil conflict fought between May and July, 1999.
He was awarded Nishan-i-Haider, the highest military gallantry award for his valour and courage, to fight against the Indian forces.
He is the sole recipient of Nishan-i-Haider from KP. Havaldar Lalak Jan, who belonged to Ghizer area of Gilgit-Biltistan, was also awarded Nishan-i-Haider.
KILLED: A man allegedly killed a daily wager, identified as Saifullah, when he demanded payment of his wage after a day’s work in Adina village of Razaar tehsil here on Tuesday. The deceased hailed from Kalu Dher village of Razaar tehsil.
Kalu Khan police quoted Attaullah as stating in the FIR that Ishfaq Khan allegedly shot dead his brother when he demanded his wage from him.
Meanwhile, one Mustafa Kamal, 26, was electrocuted in his home in Adina village on Tuesday when he touched a live wire while removing a fault.
