Three women booked for beating traffic warden
RAWALPINDI: A case has been registered against three women for allegedly beating a traffic warden with shoes after he stopped their van at Liaquat Bagh Chowk.
The case was registered by the City police on the charge of preventing a public servant from discharging his official duty and offering resistance.
Asad Zaib, traffic warden, lodged an FIR with the police stating he along with two other wardens were on duty at Liaquat Bagh Chowk on Monday night and was manually operating the traffic when a van in which four persons were travelling was signalled to stop as it took a U-turn towards Committee Chowk.
The warden alleged that the driver stopped the van in the middle of the road and after using abusive language started quarrelling with him.
In the meantime, three women aged between 18 and 35 years came out of the vehicle and attacked the traffic warden with their shoes. The incident caught attention of the public and traffic halted on the busy road leading to a gridlock.
The traffic warden claimed that his uniform was also torn by the women who later escaped. Reinforcement of police was called which helped the wardens to restore traffic on the road.
